Hear Any Word or Phrase the Way Real People Say It
YouSayTube finds real YouTube clips where native speakers use the word or phrase you’re looking up — in natural, unscripted speech. Type any English word or phrase into the search box above and instantly get short video clips showing how it sounds in real conversations, interviews, lectures, and everyday talk.
Why Context Matters
Dictionaries tell you what a word means. Pronunciation guides tell you how to say it in isolation. But neither shows you how a word actually lives in real speech — the rhythm, the stress patterns, the way it connects to the words around it. That’s what YouSayTube gives you: real English as it’s actually spoken.
Whether you’re trying to figure out how to pronounce a tricky word, studying how a phrase is used in conversation, or preparing for a presentation and want to hear how a particular expression sounds when spoken naturally — YouSayTube pulls up real examples from real people in seconds.
Who It’s For
- English learners who want to go beyond textbook pronunciation and hear how words actually sound in context
- ESL and EFL teachers looking for authentic listening material to bring into the classroom
- Public speakers and professionals preparing to use unfamiliar terminology with confidence
- Anyone curious about how a word or phrase sounds when real people say it
How It Works
Type a word or phrase into the search bar. YouSayTube searches through YouTube subtitles to find clips where your search term is spoken aloud. You get short, focused video segments — just enough context to hear the word used naturally, without sitting through an entire video to find the one moment you need.
You can skip between clips to hear different speakers, different accents, and different contexts — giving you a much richer understanding of how English actually sounds than any single recording ever could.
Built by the Team Behind toPhonetics
YouSayTube comes from the creators of toPhonetics, the phonetic transcription tool used by hundreds of thousands of English learners and teachers worldwide. While toPhonetics shows you how a word is written in IPA, YouSayTube lets you hear how it’s spoken in the real world. Use them together for the full picture.

very good
I LOVE it. This will be so great in English lessons (am a teacher), showing students how words and phrases actually sound in context. It would be great to expand the clip for a few more seconds before and after the target phrase so students can hear the rhythm and stress of phrases a bit better, but otherwise wonderful.
Noted, thanks!
Thank you
It’s very good, but words are lacking
I think it´is a good recurse to expanded the english level.
good!?mmm… yeah good!
Ovaj softver čini naš život (engleskih proučavatelja) mnogo praktičnijim, stvarno je genijalan dizajn.
I wonder if it’s possible to change the clips from as short as 2 seconds to around 10 seconds. Sometimes it’s nice to hear more of the context to better understand why and how it’s being used.
This is an amazing tool, nevertheless!
Shouldn’t be a problem most likely, will have a look. Thanks.
Es una excelente herramienta para mejorar la pronunciación. Lo que me ha permitido ir entendiendo cada vez más el ingles hablado, debido a que pronuncio los sonidos del idioma ingles de forma más clara.
